The Driver CPC (Certificate Of Professional Competence)

Compliance with the ‘Driver CPC’ is a legal requirement for Bus and Coach drivers since September 2008 and for Large Goods Vehicle Drivers since September 2009. This applies to the Driver CPC initial qualification for new drivers and Driver CPC periodic training for existing Drivers.

Initial Qualification

All NEW Large Vehicle Drivers who wish to drive vocationally will have to pass the following tests to gain their CPC qualification:

NVT Concession

Candidates will be able to drive before completion of Modules 2 and 4 if they are registered on the relevant National Vocational Training Programme:

Apprenticeships for new drivers

LRC Training has a contract with Welsh Assembly Government to deliver Foundation and Advanced apprenticeships for both the Road Transport and Logistics Industries.

These programmes can offer funding and training support for New Drivers in relation to the Initial CPC Qualification.

Periodic training

All vocational Drivers must undergo 35 hours of training, delivered by an Approved Provider every 5 years, in order to maintain their entitlement to drive professionally.

LRC Training is an approved training centre for the delivery of the Driver CPC – Periodic Training.
